The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is the governing body of football. Its members include 209 national associations. FIFA is responsible for organizing major international football tournaments, such as the World Cup. FIFA was founded in 1904 to oversee the activities of the football associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. The current president of the organization is Gianni Infantino. Presently, FIFA consists of 209 national associations, which must belong to one of the six continental confederations.
