10 logical "Premier League" transfers for the last week of January (article)

Today marked the beginning of the last week of January transfer window, and we all hope to see at least a few big deals during this period.

In this fierce Premier League season, the acquisition of one or a couple of newcomers can change the season of each team, and a smart purchase could help them solve their goal-scoring or defensive issues.

What would be the most logical transfers for Premier League clubs?

Bleacher Report journalist Mark Jones compiled a list of ten such transfers.

Wilfried Bony to Swansea City

Things just aren't going well for Wilfried Bony at Manchester City. With the addition of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling in the summer, and the rise of Kelechi Iheanacho from the youth team to the main squad, Manuel Pellegrini started playing a different style than the one the African striker was used to at Swansea.

With Swansea struggling in recent days, regaining Bony, probably on loan, would provide much more stability up front than the team is currently getting from Bafetimbi Gomis.

At the same time, if he returned to Wales and helped the club stay in the Premier League, Bony's "Swans" legend status would only be further solidified.

Shane Long to Everton

With the departure of Steven Naismith to Norwich City, Roberto Martinez could use a fast, hard-running forward to complement players like Romelu Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu, and Ross Barkley in the remaining part of the season, helping the club fight for top ten spots.

Shane Long, who is linked with a move to Liverpool, would fit that role perfectly, and the Irish international could be tempted to leave Southampton after they acquired Charlie Austin from QPR.

If he wanted a more secure place in the main squad, Long could look for another job, and a move to Everton certainly seems logical.

Saido Berahino to Tottenham Hotspur

It seems that his relationship with the current team - West Bromwich Albion, has reached such a limit that it's hard to turn back. He is playing very little, which can be explained by his poor attitude. All of this completely erased his excellent last season from memory.

The young forward needs a fresh start and a new environment, and Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino, according to reports in the press, admires the English game. The idea of Berahino arriving to play alongside Harry Kane could tempt the Spurs team, which is still fighting on three fronts.

Berahino doesn't always convince everyone with his play, but given the opportunity, he could surprise many.

Alex Teixeira to Liverpool

This deal idea came almost out of nowhere. Thursday morning's announcement of Liverpool's interest in Alex Teixeira is starting to look more and more logical.

The "Reds" are struggling to score goals this season, and the Christian Benteke experiment seems doomed to fail. So, the idea of Jurgen Klopp inserting just one Brazilian, a mobile forward trio with Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Teixeira, could be the attacking combination that would delight Liverpool fans.

Teixeira scored 22 goals in 15 matches in the Ukrainian league, so if he could at least reach a double-digit goal count in the remaining part of the season, it could undoubtedly change the direction of Liverpool's Premier League season.

Andros Townsend to Southampton

Considering that Sadio Mane is already eyeing a move to a bigger club and Dusan Tadic is inconsistent, wouldn't it be logical for Southampton coach Ronald Koeman to try to revive Andros Townsend's career, which is now stagnating at Tottenham Hotspur?

The acquisition of Townsend would benefit a team that often plays too much with the ball, and by adding this Englishman, they would have a great transfer window, after previously buying Charlie Austin.

While Townsend is also linked with a move to Newcastle, Southampton provides greater security as the team will remain in the Premier League, which could be the factor that attracts the player to Koeman's team.

Patrick Bamford to Norwich City

His loan period at Crystal Palace in the first half of the season didn't go as planned, and he rarely stepped onto the field. However, he can't expect many opportunities at Chelsea either, so young and promising English footballer Patrick Bamford could benefit from playing at one of the clubs fighting for survival in the Premier League.

Players like Dieumerci Mbokani and Cameron Jerome have not been able to consistently score goals, and Norwich is fighting for survival. Although they acquired Steven Naismith, who should help with the team's goal-scoring problems, adding Bamford, who excelled last season on loan at Middlesbrough, could further improve the club's chances of survival in the Premier League.

Ezequiel Lavezzi to Chelsea

The acquisition of Pedro just didn't work out, and although it seems more likely that Alexandre Pato will join the team, wouldn't it be better for Chelsea to try to acquire Ezequiel Lavezzi, a proven player in Europe from Paris Saint-Germain and the Argentine national team?

Lavezzi still has energy, but lately, he has been sitting on the bench at the French capital club, watching the game of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani.

There are doubts whether Pato will adapt well to the game in England, and Lavezzi, who has already played in Italy and France, shouldn't have such difficulties. Joining a Premier League club would be a logical career move for the Argentine.

Papiss Cisse to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace needs a player who can score goals to help lift the team's season that has recently been spiraling downward. Perhaps Alan Pardew could attract a player who shone when they worked together at Newcastle United.

Cisse has been struggling this season due to injuries, which seems to have forced the team's coach to rely more on Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic rather than the experienced Senegalese striker.

If Cisse could revive his form at Selhurst Park, then he would undoubtedly become a big weapon in Pardew's arsenal. The Crystal Palace coach has already shown how much he can get out of this 30-year-old striker when he is in his best form.

Edinson Cavani to Manchester United

Manchester United fans need a striker they can trust, and Wayne Rooney seems to have already lost the confidence of the team's supporters in his abilities on the field.

Acquiring Cavani may be unrealistic, considering that he is a key player at Paris Saint-Germain, and they don't want to sell such a player before crucial Champions League matches. But if United could attract Cavani to their ranks, it would help not only the current coach Louis van Gaal but also any other strategist who will take over the team after him.

If PSG decides to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, it would be a good career change for Cavani, and England would be a perfect new chapter in his career.

Simone Zaza to Leicester City

This transfer is completely out of the blue, but Jamie Vardy's goal-scoring has stopped, and Claudio Ranieri has connections in Italian football, so maybe they could help him rent Simone Zaza and thus continue to fight for the Premier League title?

Leicester's forward Andrej Kramaric joined Hoffenheim on loan, so Ranieri must want to inject some fresh blood into his squad and improve his chances of achieving an impossible result.

Zaza would undoubtedly want to move to a club where he would get more playing time, so although joining a Premier League club would be a risk, it's a risk worth taking.
