The French national team suffered their first defeat in the World Cup in their last 10 matches, as the Tunisian team took advantage of a poor performance by the world champions and secured a victory.
In the D group match, the Tunisians defeated Didier Deschamps' team 1-0.
In the first half, France looked unconvincing. Tunisia managed to score a goal, but it was disallowed due to offside.
The second half did not promise victory for the French either. Finally, in the 58th minute, the longtime leader of the Tunisian team, Wahbi Kazri, managed to score a goal after an incredible run into the penalty area.
During the added time of the second half, Antoine Griezmann scored a goal. However, after a VAR review, the referee disallowed the goal due to the player's involvement in the game while he was offside.
By avoiding a late goal, the Tunisian team triumphed, although this victory was not enough to advance to the quarterfinals.
Australia secured a victory in the next match of Group D and advanced to the knockout stage in second place.
