After this weekend's 9th round of matches in the French "Ligue 1" championship, the last three champions, Lyon, climbed to the first place. The tenth round of matches will be played this Sunday at the Stade Velodrome stadium, where the local Marseille will meet Saint-Etienne.
On Friday, Lyon crushed Caen 4-0, surpassing Lille with a better goal difference. Lille had also won on Saturday against Bastia 2-1.
Auxerre and Sochaux also secured big victories in this round, both winning 3-0 against Rennes and Lens, respectively. It is worth mentioning that Sochaux's newcomer Araujo Ilan scored all three goals.
After a surprising loss in the previous round, Edgar Jankauskas' team Nice dropped more points against Monaco. This time, Monaco failed to beat Metz, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Nice continued to demonstrate excellent performance by defeating Toulouse 1-0. Lithuania's national team forward Edgaras Jankauskas started the match on the bench and received a yellow card after entering the field in the 61st minute.
After two consecutive wins, Paris Saint-Germain once again suffered a defeat, this time losing 1-0 to Nantes. The only goal of the match was scored in the 90th minute from a penalty kick.
