51-year-old Liberian President George Weah finds time for activities not very compatible with his direct duties - yesterday he represented his country in a friendly football match.
A former famous footballer, who in 1995 became the first African to win the Ballon d'Or award, spent 79 minutes on the field, and his team lost 1-2 to the Nigerian national team at home.
The friendly match was dedicated specifically to honoring G. Weah - after the match, the 14th national team jersey was officially retired, which no other Liberian footballer will be able to wear. At the end of the match, the replaced country president was cheered off with thunderous applause.
Best known for his time at "AC Milan" in Italy, G. Weah has been serving as the country's president since January of this year.
