On Tuesday and Wednesday, ten matches of the 20th round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played, after which the defending champions "Lyon" strengthened their position as leaders even more.
On Tuesday, Lyon's players defeated "Sochaux" 0-2 away and now lead by six points ahead of the 2nd placed "Lille" club.
"Lille" on Tuesday failed to resist against "Marseille", who played one of the best matches of the season and had to admit their superiority with a score of 1-2. After this victory, "Marseille" overtook "Auxerre" in the 4th position, who unexpectedly lost 1-0 to the "Rennes" club.
"Monaco" climbed to the third place on the table, after defeating the newcomers "Istres" with a minimal result on Wednesday. Now Monaco's club is lagging behind the leader "Lyon" by 9 points, and is only three points behind the 2nd placed "Lille".
The most productive match of the round took place at the Nice Municipal du Ray stadium, where the local team "Nice", represented by the Lithuanian national team striker Edgaras Jankauskas, played a 3-3 draw with "Bordeaux". The Lithuanian appeared on the field in the 58th minute, but failed to score.
Let's remind that in the French Cup matches held last weekend, the Nice team crushed their opponents with a score of 4-0, and Edgaras Jankauskas scored the last goal of the match. This was the first and so far the only goal scored by the Lithuanian while playing in France.
