During the weekend, the 24th round of the Russian Premier League took place. Defending champion and current leader "Lokomotiv" suffered another setback, giving "CSKA" a great chance to aim for the first place after defeating "Spartak" in the battle for second place and overtaking "Zenit" , who only managed to earn a point in this round.
"CSKA" played very important match against "Spartak" with D. Semberas, who played alongside I. Dedura in the match. In a tense game, "army men" won with a goal by D. Carvalho in the sixth minute, increasing their lead in the standings to four points and reducing the gap to the leader "Lokomotiv", who played poorly without their leader D. Syčiovo and lost 0-3 in the Moscow derby against "Torpedo".
Saint Petersburg's "Zenit" dropped to third place, still tied on points with "CSKA" before the 24th round. Playing to a goalless draw at home against Yaroslavl's "Shinnik" did no favors in their pursuit of the Russian champions title.

Moscow's "Dinamo" managed to retain the ninth position, winning 2-1 against one of the underdogs, "Rostov", despite having little hope of achieving anything significant this season. Another underdog, Vladikavkaz's "Alania", lost to Perm's "Amkar" in the final minutes of the match. Samara's "Krylya Sovetov" pulled away from the relegation zone after a dramatic minimal victory against "Saturn".
With six rounds left until the end of the season, the intrigue at the top of the "Premier" league has intensified. Next week, the top three teams will play away from home - "CSKA" will face "Moskva", "Lokomotiv" will face "Dinamo", and "Zenit" will play against "Saturn".
