After a two-week break, passions rekindled in the stadiums of the French football championship "Ligue 1" - this weekend ten matches of the 26th round were played.
The central match of the round took place on Friday - at the Stade Louis II stadium, where the 4th place local team "Monaco" hosted the leader of the championship and the reigning champion "Lyon". The intense match ended in a 1-1 draw. It is worth mentioning that both goals were scored in the last 10 minutes of the match, and the equalizing goal for "Lyon" was scored during the referee's added time.
The leaders' stumble was not used by the "Lille" club, who played with the mid-table team "Metz" and had a similar result, thus giving up the 2nd place in the standings to the excellent "Marseille" team, who defeated "Bastia" 0-1 on Saturday.
"Auxerre" team also did not take advantage of the opportunity to rise one position higher, as a victory would have lifted them to the 4th place, displacing "Monaco". However, Auxerre's footballers unexpectedly lost 1-0 away to the absolute bottom team of the championship "Istres", for whom it was only the third victory in the championship.
Edgaras Jankauskas's "Nice" suffered a crushing defeat, losing 4-1 to "Rennes". Lithuania's national team striker started the match on the bench and only appeared on the field in the 76th minute.
