n Saturday, eight matches of the 29th round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. The confidently leading "Lyon" club, who are marching towards the title, won a convincing victory, while "Lille", in third place, suffered an unexpected defeat at home, diminishing their hopes of fighting for the second place in the championship.

Firmly leading the championship and defending their title, "Lyon" faced the mid-table team "Nancy" away and easily defeated them with a score of 0-3. The Czech player Milan Baroš scored the first goal for the visitors in the 36th minute. Kim Kallstrom doubled the lead 15 minutes before the end of the match, and the Brazilian Fred sealed the final result with a goal towards the end of the game.

Meanwhile, "Lille", who are fighting for the second place in the championship, hosted "Le Mans", currently in 9th place, at home and suffered a 0-2 defeat in front of their own fans. The first goal of the closely contested match was scored in the 68th minute by Ismael Bangoura. "Le Mans" secured their victory with a goal from Grafite in the last minute of the match.

With nine rounds left until the end of the championship, the initially struggling "Monaco" club is climbing higher in the standings. In this round, they defeated "Nantes" with a score of 2-1 and moved up to 10th place on the table, trailing by five points behind the 4th place, which guarantees a spot in European competitions next season.

After this round, "Sochaux" moved up from 6th to 5th place, defeating "Toulouse" 4-2 at home. After a goal from Mickael Isabey in the 63rd minute, "Sochaux" led 4-0, but in the closing minutes Fode Mansare and Achille Emana scored two goals for "Toulouse", reducing the difference.
