30th Tour: "P.S.G" Ship Sinking Deeper and Deeper © EuroFootball.com

Over the weekend, the 30th round of the French football championship "Ligue 1" matches were played, after which the situation at the top of the table remained unchanged.

In the championship, the defending champions "Lyon" club continues to confidently lead, easily crushing the successful "Metz" club 4-0 at home. Florent Malouda, who is currently in great form, scored two goals for the winners, while John Carew and Patrick Muller, who returned to the team this winter after a few years break, each added one.

In second place, still trailing by 9 points from "Lyon", is the "Bordeaux" club. In this round, Bordeaux players at home managed to beat the mid-table "Toulouse" team 2-0 and continue to keep Lyon on their toes in the fight for the championship title.

Despite losing two points this weekend, the third position was held by the "Lille" club. The team, successful in the UEFA Cup tournament, managed to snatch a draw at the very end of the match on Sunday after Kader Keita's goal against the "Nantes" team.

The fourth place was taken by the "Auxerre" team, taking advantage of Lille's stumble. In this round, Auxerre defeated former Edgar Jankauskas' "Nice" team 2-0 and reduced the gap to Lille to a minimum.

Three points behind Auxerre is the "Marseille" club, which now occupies the fifth place in the table. This weekend, unlike the previous one, Marseille brought their main lineup to the match, easily defeating the "Saint-Etienne" team 2-0, who are also fighting for a spot in next season's European tournaments.

After a long series of failures, one of the worst seasons in the club's history, the "Monaco" club finally secured a victory. On Saturday, the team defeated the struggling "Sochaux" team 4-1 at home. Marco Di Vaio scored two goals for the winners, while Ernesto Chevanton and Olivier Kapo added one each.

Unlike Monaco, the "P.S.G" club from the French capital is still struggling. After the shock in the previous round, when they failed to beat the "Marseille" youth team at home, this weekend brought no better news for the club - PSG managed to score in the dying moments of the match and avoid defeat against the not-so-strong "Nancy" team. After these draws, PSG dropped to 9th place in the table from 7th.

Rising to 8th place after this round is the "Rennes" club, who have been successful recently, beating the absolute outsider of the tournament "Ajaccio" 3-0 at home.
