Good news for football fans in Lithuania seems to never end - after broadcasting the already ongoing championships of Scotland and Italy, the largest regional television network "5 Channel" announced on Tuesday about future broadcasts of English "Premier" league matches.
Viewers of the television starting their second season will be able to enjoy English football league matches in October, which most experts consider the most beautiful in the world. "5 Channel" will broadcast two "Premier" league matches each week. It is planned to show the majority of matches of the strongest English league clubs such as "Man Utd", "Chelsea", "Arsenal", "Liverpool" and others.
"England is the homeland of football, and the English "Premier" league is famous for its intense and beautiful matches. We are glad that from now on Lithuanians will be able to see English football," said Linas Ryškus, the general director of "5 Channel."
The English "Premier" league was founded in 1992, when the oldest football league in the world, which had existed for 104 years, ceased to exist. The clubs of the newly founded league invested over a billion pounds in stadium renovations and completely transformed English football, which had previously been sadly known for uncontrollable fan hooliganism. Currently, the best football players from 250 countries play in the English "Premier" league.
In one season in England, not less than 10,000 goals are scored, and over 150 million sports fans watch the highest-quality football in the stadiums. 101 players who participated in the 2002 World Cup were playing in the English league at the time.
Thanks to these results, the English "Premier" league has become one of the absolute best domestic football championships in the world. The strongest English clubs - "Man Utd", "Arsenal", "Chelsea" and "Liverpool" - perform excellently not only in the "Premier" league, but also in the most important European club tournaments.
Due to the cosmopolitan league leaders' strategy, today the matches of the "Premier" league are broadcast in more than 200 countries. From now on, Lithuanians will also join the crowd of 450 million viewers who enjoy English football.
