During the weekend, the fifth round matches of the German Bundesliga were played. "Stuttgart" finally managed to win their first victory of the season, while league leaders "Bayern" celebrated another win.
The defending champions Munich club narrowly defeated previously undefeated "Hannover" with a 1-0 scoreline. M.Demichelis scored in the opening minutes of the match to secure the fifth consecutive victory for "Bayern".
Another interesting match took place in Bremen between the local team "Werder" and Dortmund's "Borussia" clubs. After a tough battle, "Werder" won 3-2 and somewhat redeemed themselves after a setback in the first Champions League round. "Borussia" took the lead after about eight minutes with a goal from E.Smolarek, but before the end of the first half, M.Klose equalized, and in the second half, I.Klasnic scored to secure the win. The visitors didn't give up, and E.Smolarek scored again to level the score, but in the 79th minute, "Werder" player J.Micoud scored another goal to seal the victory.
"Stuttgart" won their long-awaited first victory of the season in the Bundesliga - the previous season's fourth place finishers defeated "Mainz" 2-1 away. In the dramatic match, striker M.Gomez scored the winning goal for "Stuttgart" in the 87th minute. After this victory, "Stuttgart" climbed to ninth place in the league.
The match between "Wolfsburg" and "Nurnberg" ended in a 1-1 draw. "Wolfsburg" took the lead in the 15th minute with a goal by D.Klimowicz, but "Nurnberg" had a chance to equalize at the end of the first half, only to be denied by the crossbar.
However, "Wolfsburg" failed to maintain their lead and secure their second victory of the season as "Nurnberg" equalized in the last two minutes of the game through a substitute, M.Schroth, to earn a point. Interestingly, "Wolfsburg" players have not won against "Nurnberg" for almost four years.
In a somewhat surprising result, Hamburg drew 1-1 against league newcomers "Eintracht" at home. After D.van Buyten scored in the 86th minute to give the hosts the lead, "Eintracht" player C.Du-Ri equalized in the final minute of the match.
Another successful round for Bundesliga newcomers was seen for "Koln", who defeated "Gladbach" 2-1 at home and secured a victory after two successive losses. Meanwhile, "Arminia", competing for the second season in a row in the Bundesliga, played out a goalless draw with "Kaiserslautern" and earned their fifth point in the last three matches.
In Sunday's matches, "Bayer" team won 3-1 against "Duisburg" away, while the match between the league neighbors "Schalke" and "Hertha" ended goalless. Worth noting that from the 26th minute, "Schalke" played with ten men after Gilberto was sent off for a second yellow card.
