5th round: "Zenit" shares the leader position with "Torpedo" © EuroFootball.com

In the "Premier" league of Russia, the matches of the fifth round were played over the weekend, after which the leader of the standings remains St. Petersburg's "Zenit". "Zenit", who lost in the last round to a league debutant, defeated UEFA Cup semi-finalist Moscow's "CSKA" with a score of 1-0 this Sunday.

Kazan's "Rubin", with O. Buitkus playing from the 73rd minute, defeated Perm's "Amkar" resistance in a home match with a score of 2-0. "Moscow" won at home with a minimal result against "Rostov". These victories were the first home wins for the winning clubs since the start of the championship.

Vladikavkaz's "Alania", where two Lithuanians play, continues their unsuccessful series of matches - this time the Lithuanian defenders couldn't help and "Alania" had to admit defeat to Ramenskoye's "Saturn" by two goals difference, while Yaroslavl's "Shinnik" snatched victory in a dramatic match against Grozny's "Terek" with a penalty in the added time and ended up in the tenth place with six points.

Last round surprised the league debutant Tomsk's "Tom" couldn't do anything against M. Samusiov's Moscow "Torpedo" in an away match this weekend and lost with a score of 3-0. "Torpedo" moved up to second place after the victory against "Tom".

Last year's champion Moscow's "Lokomotiv" couldn't defeat Samara's "Krylya Sovetov" in an away match and are in the fifth place of the standings with two points loss.

Of course, the most interesting match took place in Moscow, where local clubs - "Spartak" and "Dinamo" met. "Dinamo", led by former long-time "Spartak" coach O. Romantsev, couldn't resist against former Latvian national team coach A. Starkov's "Spartak" and lost with a crushing score of 5-1.
