UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin warned the founders of the Super League that they will face many difficulties in the future. Teams' players will also face sanctions. "I cannot emphasize enough how everyone is uniting against these shameful, selfish proposals, primarily driven by greed," said UEFA President, presenting a new Champions League format that is expected to be implemented in 2024. "We all stand united against this senseless project. It is a cynical plan, completely against what football should be. We cannot and will not allow it to change. Footballers who play for closed league teams will be banned from participating in world and European championships. We urge everyone to stand together with us, as we are doing everything possible to ensure it never becomes a reality."
Asked whether the Champions League will continue without the 12 clubs that, as claimed, will establish the Super League, Ceferin replied: "Yes, of course. There are many good clubs in Europe and dedicated fans. You have already heard today about the changes to UEFA from 2024. We will do it with them or without them."
