A. Čeferinas: "Superleague is someone's imagination that has no chance of becoming reality"

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin is not afraid of the backstage work of Europe's elite clubs and claims that there is no possibility that the Super League will ever become a realistic project.

A few weeks ago, "Football Leaks" revealed that European giants, including "Real", "Barca", "Bayern" and others, are planning to establish a private European league where only the most famous clubs of the Old Continent would compete. If this vision were to be realized, the clubs would automatically withdraw from all UEFA tournaments.

"There will be no Super League. It is someone's imagination and simply a dream," A. Čeferin told a BBC journalist.

"We have several ideas. I can say that the Super League is not a question for us at all. Cooperation remains the same. All clubs will have the opportunity to compete in every European tournament.

Unfortunately, the same thing happens in the world every time - the rich get richer. I think that we (UEFA) are one of the rare organizations trying to solve this problem.

We know that we need to reduce the gap between small clubs and big ones. We understand how difficult it is to implement this. It is not an attempt to make all clubs equal, as it would be unfair to those clubs that do good work and get good results.

It is not right to say that every club should have its place. Everyone should compete and have the opportunity to enter a tournament where the highest level teams compete," added the UEFA president.
