Head coach of London's Chelsea club, Antonio Conte, believes that Cesar Azpilicueta has adapted very successfully to the new tactics of the "Blues" team and is now one of the best players in the world in his position.
When A. Conte arrived at the club in the summer, the "Blues" started playing with a new tactic - with three center-backs. Previously playing as a left-back, the Spaniard now forms a line of three defenders with David Luiz and Gary Cahill, and successfully manages his duties.
A. Conte is very satisfied with the defender's performance - C. Azpilicueta has not missed a single match in the English Premier League, with only Thibaut Courtois spending more time on the field than him.
"The current system was in my plans as soon as we started thinking about this season," said A. Conte. "We use two tactics - 4-2-4 or 3-4-3. When I change one formation for another, I feel how well the team copes with it. Perhaps our aggressiveness decreases slightly, but we are better in defense."
"Players did not need to adapt to their new positions, they just needed to use what they had learned before in different positions. For example, Azpi, who plays fantastically in his new position. He is one of the best players in the world in his position," the coach said.
A. Conte also had good words for Victor Moses, who successfully integrated into the position of a wing-back: "Moses is also fantastic. His runs on the wing show his quality as a player throughout the match."
