After undergoing left knee surgery, it became clear that "Milan" defender Andrea Conti will not return to the field this season.
He has not worn the "Rossoneri" jersey since August, when he had to undergo surgery on his torn cruciate ligaments.
The 24-year-old footballer was hoping to start playing again and even sat on the bench in a match against Verona's "Chievo" on March 18, but the injury recurred.
"AC Milan" announces that Andrea Conti underwent surgery today to stabilize his left knee, which was previously operated on to reconstruct the cruciate ligaments," according to an official statement.
"The operation, overseen by team doctor Mario Brozzi and performed by Professor Piero Paolo Mariani, was perfectly successful."
"The expected rehabilitation period will last between five and six months."
This means that when Conti can play again, he will have missed more than a year without football. He joined "Milan" for 24 million euros just last summer, when he left the "Atalanta" club in Bergamo.
