Italian football legend Alessandro Del Piero becomes the new sports director of the "Mallorca" team, which plays in the second division of Spain.
This will not be the first famous athlete to join the team after it was taken over by American investor Robert Sarver. Previously, it was announced that NBA legend Steve Nash would work as the team's ambassador.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, it was Nash who invited Del Piero to the team, as the two are close friends.
The 41-year-old Italian ended his football career in 2015, playing his last years in Australia and India.
Del Piero will replace Miguel Angel Nadal in this position, who will be offered a place on the team's board.
