Lisbon's "Benfica" star Angelis Di Maria has been involved in an unpleasant story.

"O Jogo" reports that the world champion is mentioned in Italy in a case concerning illegal betting.

"I would like everyone to know – I have never done anything illegal," A. Di Maria stated to the press.

It is reported that the case involves as many as 11 well-known players, and the Argentine could have committed an offense while still playing in the "Serie A" championship and trying his luck in unlicensed poker games.

This season, A. Di Maria scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists in 35 matches.
