The Russian national team will gather for a training camp in March to prepare for the World Cup qualifying play-off matches if the International Court of Arbitration for Sport decides to overturn the FIFA-imposed disqualification. However, one of the team's leaders, Artem Dzyuba, opted out of participating in the camp. Russian national team coach Valery Karpin revealed that the player made this decision due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, where his relatives live. "I spoke with Artem on the phone and he confirmed that he really wants to play for the national team, but at the moment he cannot join us because of the situation in Ukraine, where many of his relatives live," commented V. Karpin.
