A. Ferguson: "Arsenal" no longer progressing under Wenger

Sir Alex Ferguson believes that in recent seasons London's "Arsenal", led by coach Arsene Wenger, has not been improving. However, according to the Scot, suitable replacements for him are not available.

Despite winning the FA Cup in the last two seasons, the "Gunners" have not won the Premier League since 2004, and this year it is very likely that they will have to say goodbye to the UEFA Champions League already after the group stage.

The club fans' attitude towards the strategist is twofold - some demand to fire the Frenchman, while others trust him and believe that a successful performance in cup tournaments is a step forward.

"If 'Manchester United' had not progressed after 1994, when they won the double, or after 1999, when they won the treble, maybe I would have had the same problems that Arsene is facing now," Ferguson told ESPN.

"He sticks to his philosophy, principles in which he believes."

"But you know, what could they find to replace Arsene Wenger? What could they find better?"

"That's exactly why they haven't fired him."

The former "Red Devils" manager also added that there is no data proving that firing coaches brings results. At the same time, the Scot urged club leaders to give specialists more time.
