A. Ferguson: "I wanted to continue coaching Man United"

Legendary coach Alex Ferguson revealed that he would have continued his career if not for the death of his wife's twin sister.

With Manchester United, he won 38 trophies over 26 years. Ferguson's retirement in 2013 surprised many, and now the coach admits that he had no plans to end his career until the death of his wife's twin sister Bridget in 2012.

"I definitely would have stayed," Ferguson told the Telegraph.

"One evening I saw Cathy (Ferguson's wife) just staring at the ceiling. I could see that after her sister's death she felt very lonely. They were twins."

"When I told her that I planned to retire, she completely opposed it. I know my wife wanted me to continue," he said.
