The Vilnius "Vėtra" team will be coached by a foreigner next season. The president of the capital's club, Romas Stašauskas, visited Moscow last weekend and met with the future head coach of the team, Edgar Gess, who should soon arrive in Vilnius to sign a contract for one season after getting to know the team. R.Stašauskas and E.Gess watched the Russian Championship match between Moscow teams "Spartak" and "Lokomotiv", inquired about the coach's views on football, and eventually reached an agreement on signing the contract. "It is very important what kind of game the team demonstrates. You can only play for the result. However, football must be attractive, pleasing to the eye. It is much more interesting to watch fast, creative play. I hope that the new coach will promote exactly this kind of football," said "Vėtra" president R.Stašauskas officially to the "A lyga" website (alyga.lt). According to him, the 51-year-old football specialist, living in Germany and holding citizenship of that country, was chosen based on recommendations. The new "Vėtra" strategist, who worked as the head coach of Vladikavkaz's "Alania" in the second half of the 2005 season and parted ways with the Russian "Premier" league team in July, is expected to arrive in Vilnius next week. "E.Gess will arrive on November 28-30. He will get to know the team and sign a one-year contract. We will discuss player nominations with the coach. We have found new sponsors and will soon start forming the team. More information about "Vėtra" will be available at the press conference," said R.Stašauskas. E.Gess - a former well-known footballer. From 1972-1979, he wore the jersey of the Dushanbe "Pamir" team as he was born in Tajikistan, to immigrant parents from Germany. In 1979, he became the champion of the USSR with the Moscow "Spartak" team. He represented this team from 1979 to 1983. From 1984 to 1986, the future "Vėtra" strategist played for the Tashkent "Pachtakor" team.
