“Milan” executive director Adriano Galliani admitted that letting defender Andrea Pirlo move to Turin’s “Juventus” in the summer of 2011 was the biggest mistake of his career.
The veteran then did not meet the requirements of “rossoneri” coach Massimiliano Allegri, so he became unnecessary for the team. Interestingly, the same Allegri now coaches “Juve”.
After moving to Turin, the defender won the “Serie A” championship four times.
“Pirlo’s departure was my biggest mistake of all time,” - Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“This mistake was made by myself and several other individuals. But don’t ask me about the others.”
The club director also revealed that this summer they were just a step away from acquiring “Porto” striker Jackson Martinez, who moved to Madrid’s “Atletico”.
