Two more matches of the 18th round of the Spanish "La Liga" were played on Sunday.
The highly anticipated clash between Sevilla and Madrid's Atletico ended in a draw - the match finished level at 1:1.
Sevilla had a strong start to the match and completely dominated in their territory. The first real chance was created by Atletico, but the host goalkeeper dealt confidently with the first shot, and later Jan Oblak came to the aid of the Atletico team, stopping several dangerous strikes.
However, in the 37th minute, the Andalusians found a gap in the cluttered Atletico defense - Wissam Ben Yedder found space in the penalty area after a corner kick and sent the ball into the opponent's goal with a simple shot.
Despite Sevilla continuing to dominate after the goal, Atletico managed to find a way to equalize the score at the end of the first half - Thomas Partey earned a penalty kick right on the penalty area line. Antoine Griezmann did not miss this opportunity and scored the equalizing goal with a powerful shot.
In the second half, Sevilla's pace dropped slightly and Atletico no longer felt the same pressure in defense. Ultimately, both teams failed to score any more goals and settled for a draw.
After the draw, both teams remain in their positions - Atletico is ranked behind the leader, while Sevilla is in third place.
Earlier, the match between Villarreal and Eibar ended in a goalless draw.
