On Sunday at 18:30 in the evening, one of the most anticipated matches of the 18th round of the English Premier League took place at the "Tottenham Hotspur" stadium.
Two London teams clashed at the weapons - "Tottenham" against "Chelsea". In a controversial derby, Frank Lampard's "Blues" army triumphed after Willian's double.
From the very beginning of the match, the "Chelsea" team imposed their game conditions. "Tottenham" did not find any ways to create a dangerous episode near Kepa's goal in the first 10 minutes.
Aggressive play by "Chelsea" bore fruit in the 12th minute, when Willian quickly played a corner kick, invaded the opponent's penalty area, and directed the ball into the "Spurs" goal with a powerful shot.
After the goal, the "Tottenham" team's game did not improve - the visitors from the western part of London continued to dominate with the ball and did not make significant mistakes near their goal.
The hosts were dealt a huge blow at the very end of the first half, when in the penalty area Paulo Gazzanigga jumped on Marcos Alonso, and a penalty kick was awarded to "Tottenham". It was soon successfully converted by the scorer of the first goal, Willian.
In the second half, Jose Mourinho's protégés started much better than in the first half, but all their hopes of salvaging these matches were shattered by Heung-min Son, who earned an unnecessary red card. The Korean, lying on the ground, raised his legs high and kicked Antonio Rudiger. The referee, consulting with the VAR team, decided to punish Son with the harshest penalty.
After this episode, the teams had to deal with mere formalities - "Spurs" took some risks, but "Chelsea" did not make mistakes and celebrated a very important victory.
The referee had to add as much as 8 minutes, as there were many stoppages in the second half not only due to VAR review, but also due to the unruly behavior of the "Tottenham" fans, when A. Rudiger was subjected to racial abuse. A paper cup was also thrown at Kepa during this episode.
After winning their 10th victory in this Premier League season, "Chelsea" solidified their position in fourth place. In turn, "Tottenham" increased their gap from the "Blues" to six points.
Result:
"Tottenham" 0 - 2 "Chelsea" 12' [0 - 1] Willian 45+4' [0 - 2] Willian (penalty) 62' H-M. Son (Tottenham) sent off from the field
