Simferopol's "Tavria" newcomers from Lithuania continue to significantly contribute to their team's success - after Nerijus Vasiliauskas' excellent goal last week, this time it was Aidas Jokšas who stood out, whose precise strike brought an important victory to the "Lithuanian" club against the neighbor of the league table, Zaporizhzhia's "Metallurg".
In the first matches after the winter break, N. Vasiliauskas' goal helped the "Tavria" team to earn a point against the country's champion Donetsk's "Shakhtar" away. This weekend, all three Lithuanians, including defender Audrius Veikutis, were again in the starting lineup and played the entire match against "Metallurg".
The victory for the "Tavria" team was sealed by A. Jokšas' goal in the 67th minute - the 27-year-old midfielder received a good header pass from N. Vasiliauskas and sent the ball into the net from a few meters away. N. Vasiliauskas himself had opportunities to score in the match, but he couldn't beat the opponent's goalkeeper.
After this win, "Tavria" leveled in points with "Metallurg" and now occupies the 12th position. Kiyv's "Arsenal" rose to the 14th place, as they defeated the "Kryvbas" team in an away match in another bottom part of the league table clubs duel, pushing them into the relegation zone. The absolute outsider remains "Kryvbas", who have only collected 12 points in 21 matches, while Kiyv's "Dynamo" remains the leader of the championship despite dropping two points.
