In the second round of the "TOPsport A league", "Riteriai" fought for their first point of the season in the match against "Žalgiris", and Andrius Kaulinis, who scored two goals in that match, was awarded the best player trophy.

After the match, emotions had calmed down, but while reviewing the game moments, the players do not hide that they still return to that good mood, which was experienced again after the match. A. Kaulinis is pleased that he contributed to the team's rescue with two goals, especially since the opponent was the Lithuanian champion.

"To be honest, I was confident that the team and I would play a good match. After the first half in the locker room, just like before the match, I had no doubt that the team would recover and could even win. We needed a second goal to get back into the game. Therefore, if I had to choose, I would say that the second goal is more important," said A. Kaulinis.

Before this duel, "Riteriai" had lost to "Žalgiris" nine times in a row. When asked about breaking such a long losing streak, A. Kaulinis emphasized that the team has a rule to focus only on the next match.

"Yes, we lost to 'Sūduva', but that match is already in the past. We focused only on the duel against 'Žalgiris', and the series was broken with the joint efforts of the coaches and the whole team," confirmed the defender.

After the match, A. Kaulinis received many congratulations from his teammates, but in the locker room, no one was too pleased with the draw.

"We were happy with our performance, we were happy that we managed to eliminate the deficit, but not with the draw. To be honest, I think everyone felt that we could have won. We definitely didn’t celebrate the draw; we just talked, drew conclusions, and now we are waiting for the next round," said A. Kaulinis.

This Sunday, "Riteriai" will face "Kauno Žalgiris" in the third round of the "TOPsport A league". The Kaunas team will arrive in the capital after a loss to "Džiugas" in Telšiai.

"A new week and a new training process. Of course, we will focus on this match because we understand perfectly that it will not be an easy game. The opponent is strong, but we just need to play our game and aim for the highest result," said the "Riteriai" midfielder, who is among the top scorers in the league after two rounds.

He did not change his personal goals after this performance, as he had set them before the start of the season. "I will keep them to myself, and my performance in this match only gave me even more confidence and showed that everything is possible."

Finally, A. Kaulinis did not forget the fans: "When I received the MVP trophy, I would like to mention the fans and thank them, because the whole team felt their support in the stadium!"

The third round match between "Riteriai" and "Kauno Žalgiris" will take place on Sunday at 18:25 in the "Sportima" arena in the capital. This is the central match of the round, which will be broadcast on television and will utilize the VAR system.
