Despite losing his place in the starting lineup of London's Arsenal at the end of last season, Alexandre Lacazette insists that he sees Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang not as a rival, but as a partner.
Arriving during the winter transfer window, the sniper from the Gabon national team pushed the Frenchman out of the main lineup, but he hopes that they will be able to play together next season.
Both strikers became the most famous acquisitions for the "Gunners" - initially, Arsenal paid a record 53 million euros for Lacazette, and later paid another 64 million euros for Aubameyang.
"I never said it was a bad thing," Lacazette said about Aubameyang's transfer.
"It was only the people in the press who said it was bad. I was happy because I knew I could play with him."
"I saw him as more of a teammate than a competitor, so I was satisfied with his acquisition from the very beginning."
Lacazette's first season in England was not easy - in the Premier League, he scored a total of 14 goals, while Aubameyang scored 10 goals in just 13 appearances.
