A league review: Hegelmann ends an unpleasant streak

TOPsport A lygos 14th round saw two teams achieve revenge.

Position. Marijampole's "Sūduva" got revenge for their failure in the first round by defeating Alytus DFK "Dainava" 1-0 away from home.

Sūduva's winning goal in the second half was scored by Augustas Dubickas, who previously played as a center-back. After this victory, Marijampole rose to 7th place with 16 points.

Substitution. A. Dubickas scored his first goal in the "TOPsport A league" with a beautiful long-range shot. He filled the gaps in the attack due to the absence of Aivaras Emsis and Ugochukwu Oduenyi.

Just before scoring, a substitution for this player was planned. Instead of the goalscorer, midfielder Linas Zingertas was soon sent into the game.

Accent. FA "Šiauliai" also celebrated revenge in the 14th round, defeating the outsider Vilnius region club "TransINVEST" 3-1 in Širvintos. The representatives of the Sun City played the most productive game of the season.

In the second half, a pleasant accent occurred - after an eight-month break, Deividas Šešplaukis returned to the lineup. Eligijus Jankauskas is approaching his debut this season.

Segments. Two of the most productive players in the championship - Davis Ikauniekas and Henrique Devensas - once again made their mark.

The Latvian legionnaire, who also made a productive assist, scored a goal after a five-game break. Meanwhile, H. Devensas scored the last time on March 30 - it was a winning shot into the net of the Šiauliai team.

Moods. Kaunas district's "Hegelmann" footballers once again defeated last season's champions "Panevėžys" 2-0 away.

The blue and white team won their first game in the "TOPsport A league" away from the capital of Aukštaitija after seven attempts.

Birthdays. "Panevėžys" footballers failed to give a birthday gift to the club's director, experiencing a bitter defeat. This was further compounded by the injury to their main goalkeeper Vytautas Černiauskas.

Interestingly, former "Panevėžys" defender Hugo Figueredo scored the first goal for "Hegelmann", who also celebrated his birthday on May 18.

Derby. Telšiai's "Džiugas" seemed to slowly get rid of Gargždai's "Bangos." The second match of the season ended in a 1-1 draw.

The most productive player of the team, Nino Noordanus, put Džiugas ahead, but in the last minutes, 38-year-old Robertas Vėževičius equalized for the guests.

Viewers. The excellent results of "Džiugas" led to increased attendance at the main city stadium before the first game this year.

A large group of fans organized a march, and 1650 passionate supporters cheered on the "Džiugas" team - a record for the club in the "TOPsport A league." A four-digit number of spectators also attended the match in Vilnius.

Repetition. In the duel between Vilnius "Žalgiris" and "Kauno Žalgiris" on Sunday, the same result was recorded as in the first round - 1-0.

Giedrius Matulevičius scored the winning goal for Vilnius once again. He was assisted by Serbian player Nemanja Mihajlovičius, who had not played since the 5th round.

Halves. In the first 45 minutes, the Kaunas team did not give in to the championship leaders, they even scored a goal which was canceled after VAR review due to a minimal offside.

After the break, there were no dangerous moments created, as noted by coach Nerijus Mačiulis: "Maybe we wanted significantly more chances, but there were some where we could have capitalized."
