On Monday, the second round of the A League ended. "Trakai", traditionally playing their matches in Vilnius, did not defeat the visitors from Pakruojis - 1:1. The hosts' forward L.Kochanauskas scored first (36'), but R.Beniusis equalized in the 47th minute.
In the first half, the hosts clearly dominated in terms of ball control, while Aidas Dambrauskas' players had to play as the "away team" and wait for their chances on counterattacks. Although the foreign players of Pakruojis showed effort, the lack of coordination did not allow them to threaten the goal defended by Marius Rapalis.
Meanwhile, the "Trakai" team repeatedly threatened their opponents, with the championship debutant goalkeeper Felipe Gomes saving them from conceding more goals. However, in the 36th minute, the Brazilian was forced to concede and take the ball out of his net.
Jurijus Mamajev made a pass to Lukas Kochanauskas, who broke into the penalty area and with a precise shot with his left foot, put "Trakai" ahead.
After the break, the visitors equalized the game and restored the balance in the 47th minute. A corner kick favored Richard Beniusis, who scored from close range.
Later on, the leader of "Kruoja" had two good chances to turn the game around. In the first case, M.Rapalis interrupted R.Beniusis' breakthrough into the penalty area, and in the second situation, the goalkeeper could only watch as the veteran's header flew wide of the goal.
In the 70th minute, the old capital's knights responded with a dangerous attack. After a substitution on the field, Ronaldas Solominas made a pass to L.Kochanauskas, but the shot was well saved by F.Gomesas.
At the very end of the match, Edvardas Gaurilovas headed the ball close to the goal after a corner kick, but once again the "Kruoja" team was saved by the reliable goalkeeping. In extra time, neither team was able to extend the victory.
