A League: "Žalgiris" did not beat "Džiugas" © E. Žaldario

„Another surprise was recorded in the "Optibet A Lyga" - Telšiai's "Džiugas" once again showed character and this time took points away from the champion. The debutants of the championship played a 2:2 (0:1) draw with Vilnius' "Žalgiris", who failed to defeat the former First League club for the second time this season. The hosts had a good opportunity to score one of the first attacks - that time Ogenyi Onazi hit the post near the goal. However, the 20th minute brought success to the green-and-whites: after a sharp pass from Tomislav Kiš, Jeremy Fernandes redirected the ball into his own net. In the first half, "Žalgiris" had a few more chances to score, but they also wasted a good opportunity after the break. Hugo Videmont delivered a sharp pass toward goal, but Tomislav Kiš couldn't reach the ball. In the 67th minute, "Džiugas" struck back. One of the first sharp attacks from Telšiai ended with a shot from Davydas Arlauskis - the experienced player directed the ball into the empty net, after Edvinas Gertmonas saved his team following Nasko Milev's attempt. Just 8 minutes later, Telšiai celebrated their second goal: Ivan Tatomirovič redirected the ball into his own net after a crafty pass from Rokas Lazdinauskas. However, "Žalgiris" quickly restored balance - in the 77th minute, the first-time scorer Josip Tadić scored after Jakub Sylvestr's pass. At the end of the duel, the hosts could have expanded their victory, but Hugo Videmont's shot was saved by M. Paukštė in one end of the field, and N. Milev's attempt was saved by E. Gertmonas in the other.
