A Lithuanian Encourages Visiting a Special Soccer Field in Estonia

Known Lithuanian traveler Karolis Žukauskas reminded a story that has become famous worldwide a few years ago, when a photo of a soccer field from Estonia became a sensation on social media.

The man visited the town of Orisarė, where in the middle of the field grows... an oak tree.

"Estonians have their excuse for poor soccer, unlike us - how can you play when there is a tree growing in the middle of the field? But seriously, because of such a view, it's worth driving a few kilometers to the countryside in Sarema - in the town of Orisarė there is a stadium with an oak tree growing in the middle. The story is simple - once the stadium was smaller, the oak tree was growing nearby, the stadium was expanded, and the oak tree remained in the middle.

Legend has it that they tried to remove it during the Soviet era, but failed, only leaving marks on the tree from the ropes. The truth is, in 2015 it won the European Tree of the Year competition (yes, there are such competitions, and we are doing well in them so far like in Eurovision)," wrote K. Žukauskas.
