Alvaro Morata revealed that he had the opportunity to move to "Manchester United" in the summer, but he is happy to have ultimately chosen London's "Chelsea".
Not making it into the starting lineup of Madrid's "Real" last season, the Spaniard still demonstrated excellent statistics, making him one of the most sought-after targets of Premier League clubs during the transfer window.
The "Red Devils" were indeed considered favorites in the battle for the striker for a long time, but an agreement was not ultimately reached and the team acquired Romelu Lukaku. Then, "Chelsea" paid £70 million for Morata.
"Antonio (Conte), Michael (Emenalo, the club's technical director), and Marina (Granovskaia, responsible for "the aristocrats'" transfers) called me last summer and there was no chance that I would not come to Chelsea," Morata revealed to "Metro".
"They really showed me that they wanted me."
"I had the opportunity to move to Manchester United and other Premier League teams."
"The most important thing is that I am now a part of Chelsea and I feel very happy about it. Now is the time to fight for the blue jerseys. I want to play well and win with these jerseys."
What they lost, Morata will be able to show to the "Red Devils" and their coach Jose Mourinho, under whose guidance he made his debut for Real, already on Sunday.
