"Panevėžys” football club has been joined by a newcomer from Belgium – Amine Benchaiba. An agreement has been reached with the 26-year-old footballer that will be valid until the end of this season, with the possibility of an extension.
Professional career A. Benchaiba began at his native Belgium’s "Lokeren” team, which was then coached by the current "Panevėžys” coach Stijn Vreven. Until 2023, the midfielder also represented the teams of "Charlerloi” and "Kortrijk.”
The newcomer of the club in the capital of Aukštaitija began his legionnaire career in Romania – at the "Mioveni” team. In the summer of 2023, A. Benchaiba joined the Constanța team "Farul,” which was fighting for top positions and defended its honor for almost a year.
"I was motivated to join the club because "Panevėžys” became the champion last year, and I have ambitions to play football. Also – I know how the coach works, he motivated me since I worked with him in the past in Belgium.
My personal goals are to help the team win as many matches as possible by influencing their course and to rise in the tournament table to where "Panevėžys” deserves to be,” – the Belgian told the fk-panevezys.lt website.
A. Benchaiba may debut in the upcoming match between "Panevėžys” and Tel Aviv "Maccabi.” The first match of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League will be held at the Vilnius LFF stadium on August 6, Tuesday, starting at 19:30.
