"Liverpool" defender Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain praised his team's fans after the victory against "Manchester City".
The English giants met on Wednesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, which the "Reds" unexpectedly won with a convincing 3-0 result.
The fans of the Merseyside club greeted the opponent's team bus before the match, and were loud with their chants and songs.
"It was an amazing atmosphere - the best I have ever played in," said Oxlade-Chamberlain. "I have to thank the fans because coming to Anfield and hearing this crowd is never pleasant - I have been on the other side of the barricades and it is not easy."
"The fans play a huge role. I have never seen anything like it. Coming to the stadium for a match that is not a final, they prepared it as if it were a final. It really got to us and you could see that. If you are the away team and the crowd behaves like that, then it is scary."
"City" is an amazing team, but they are also humans. The pressure in such an atmosphere might affect them as well.
"I don't know what impact it had specifically, as they still played well and dominated with the ball, but it definitely contributed in the first half. It got to us and would likely shake anyone, so the fans should be thanked for that."
"Man City" may triumph in the "Premier" League tomorrow, but "Liverpool" now have much greater chances to extend their European journey.
