A. Pirlo: I won't return to Serie A

„New York City“ club member Andrea Pirlo confirmed that he has no intention of returning to the „Serie A“ championship.

The 36-year-old midfielder was mentioned in rumors about joining „Inter“ or other Italian teams. Pirlo himself confirmed that he had received quite a few offers from Italy, but is satisfied with his play in the MLS championship and does not intend to return to play in his homeland.

„I enjoyed several wonderful years at „Juventus“ and achieved good results with the „Milan“ team, but I will not return to the „Serie A“. Many teams have contacted me in recent weeks, but I made the decision not to return a few months ago and I will not change it. This is also related to my respect for those who invested in my game at the „New York City“ club,“ - Pirlo told Corriere della Sera.

Although previously the player planned to end his career with the national team after the 2014 World Cup, Pirlo once again emphasized that his goal is to participate in the upcoming European Championship. The midfielder also believes that playing in the MLS championship should not hinder his involvement in the national team.

„My main goal remains the Euro 2016 championship. Playing for the national team still brings me a lot of pleasure. Although Antonio Conte probably won't come to America to watch my game, all matches are broadcast on television,“ - said the Italian, admitting that he is not worried about not playing in Europe.

Throughout his career, Pirlo has played 116 matches for the Italian national team and scored 13 goals.
