A. Schurrle: Mourinho wanted me to stay at "Chelsea"

This winter, Andre Schurrle, who joined the "Wolfsburg" club, revealed that coach Jose Mourinho wanted to continue seeing him in the ranks of London's "Chelsea". However, the German does not regret his decision.

The 24-year-old footballer arrived in England in the summer of 2013 from Leverkusen's "Bayer", but he was unable to establish himself in the main lineup of the "aristocrats".

In the last days of the transfer window, the winger decided to return to Germany, despite Mourinho promising him more playing time.

"I have been a 'Chelsea' fan since childhood and until the last day I felt good there. On the other hand, the most important thing for me is to play football. I couldn't do that there," Schurrle told Sport Bild.

"Perhaps 'Wolfsburg' is a club of lesser reputation. I thought about it for a long time and persistently. I could have stayed with 'Chelsea'. Mourinho said I would still have my chance."

"However, I had to make a decision, and I simply want to play football again. German national team coach Joachim Low also reiterated that a move to 'Wolfsburg' would be the right decision, so for me, it is just a step forward."

"'Wolfsburg' is also a great team that can compete for trophies both in Germany and in Europe."

So far, Schurrle has played two games for his new club.
