For 50 million euros Alex Teixeira, who transferred to Jiangsu "Suning", admits that he wanted to play in England more.
The former Donetsk "Shakhtar" attacking midfielder was linked during the winter transfer window with London "Chelsea" and "Liverpool", but the move to the "Premier" league ultimately did not happen.
Closest to the deal, the "Reds" refused to pay the ransom amount demanded by the Ukrainian club, so the Brazilian ended up in China.
"Everyone knew that I wanted to stay in Europe and move to a club in the English "Premier" league," Teixeira told the official "Shakhtar" website.
"However, all the offers from there were not convincing and did not contain anything specific."
"I received a serious offer from China, so of course I accepted it. I discussed it with my family and close people. I consulted mostly with my wife, and she supported my decision."
In the ranks of the Ukrainian team, Teixeira demonstrated impressive form - he scored 26 goals in 25 matches in all competitions this season.
