Former Amsterdam "Ajax" and Netherlands national team defender Andy van der Meyde believes that "Paris Saint-Germain" striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, along with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, belongs among the best footballers in the world.
Van der Meyde and "Ibra" were teammates when they played for "Ajax" from 2001-2003. The Dutchman speaks highly of the "PSG" striker.
"Ibrahimovic, along with Messi and Ronaldo, are the best players in the world," van der Meyde told journalists.
"He is a big and strong guy. He can be a daunting figure. Additionally, for someone with such a big body, his technique is amazing."
"He is someone who wants to win at any cost. He is arrogant. But that's him. If you ask me, I would say that it's positive arrogance. He is truly great."
Van der Meyde also admits that he often stayed after training sessions to watch Ibrahimovic.
"We didn't need much time to realize that he would be a great player. On the training field, he did such things that we could only watch in amazement. It was the same acrobatic kicks with his heel as now. However, at first, he couldn't perform well during matches."
Ibrahimovic will return to Amsterdam on Wednesday, where he will face his former club in the UEFA Champions League tournament.
