A. Wenger: "Arsenal" showed its psychological ability

London's Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was happy with the victory against Newcastle United, despite his players not showing all their capabilities.

The Gunners were absolute favorites to win three points at their home ground, but the visitors completely shut down their game and deserved a positive result.

The capital team was saved multiple times by goalkeeper Petr Cech, who blocked three shots from Georginio Wijnaldum. The winning goal was scored by defender Laurent Koscielny in the 72nd minute.

"Today we didn't play with our feet. We experienced a really good test from Newcastle," Wenger said after the match.

"Not losing points while playing like this is very good. We need to focus on the fact that we are in a good position. Newcastle played well, but our team showed psychological strength. We will need that."

"I've been in this job long enough to know when they feel really bad. However, I would like to give them some credit. They have good players and, in my opinion, they looked really solid."

After the victory and Leicester City's draw, Arsenal with 42 points became the sole leader of the Premier League.
