A. Wenger: Competition Attacking Position Did Not Help A. Lacazette

The head coach of London's Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, commented on the situation of Alexandre Lacazette and stated that the forward is currently not in the best form, but is working hard to start showing better results.

Last summer, the "Gunners" paid 53 million euros for the forward, but his inconsistent performance led to Arsenal acquiring another striker - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - in the winter.

Lacazette immediately lost his starting position, while Aubameyang quickly made his debut and scored a goal. The Frenchman had the opportunity to prove his worth in the match against Tottenham - Arsenal were losing 0-1, Lacazette had a chance in added time, but missed the target.

"He has a good goal-scoring instinct, so being alone in front of the goalkeeper is a situation that suits him. He is currently going through a difficult period. I know he is working hard in training, trying to regain his accuracy," Wenger said about the player.

"I don't know what happened against Tottenham, maybe he tried to shoot the ball while not being in a good position, I just don't know. We all understand that this can happen to anyone, as it's a matter of seconds.

"Maybe he is currently lacking confidence, especially after facing new competition in his position (Aubameyang's arrival)," added the coach.

Lacazette, who scored nine goals in 29 matches since mid-December, has only scored once in the Premier League.
