Londono „Arsenal“ strategist Arsene‘as Wenger admits that he doesn't know why Alexis Sanchez chose the „Gunners“ over „Liverpool“ last summer, but he assures that he is very happy about it.
It was thought that the deal would be similar to the one in which Merseyside team leader Luis Suarez moved to „Barcelona“, but rumors spread that Sanchez chose „Arsenal“ because of his girlfriend's desire to live in the English capital.
„Only Sanchez can explain why he chose us“, - said Wenger. „I don't know why he did it, but we are happy with this decision.”
„I heard rumors that he was also interested in „Liverpool“, but I could never know if it was true. I thought it was possible, because „Barcelona“ was interested in Suarez.“
„It was their advantage, because for Sanchez they could offer a player and still get some money.“
Alexis started the season excellently and by scoring 19 goals in 42 matches helped the „Gunners“ climb to third place in the „Premier“ league and reach the FA Cup semi-final.
