"Arsenal" manager remains calm and confident that Alexis Sanchez will stay in the ranks of the London club. Arsene Wenger is certain that "Arsenal" will not agree to sell the striker to their competitors, remembering Robin Van Persie's move to Manchester United in 2012, said the specialist.
The Chilean forward continues to be linked with a departure from the Emirates Stadium, as there will only be 12 months left on his contract in the summer. It is reported that Manchester City are favorites to acquire Sanchez, as the player has already worked with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.
Wenger is steadfast and does not give in to rumors that the player could move to another top English club. The specialist is not doubtful even if the 28-year-old striker refuses to sign a new contract with Arsenal.
"I don't think you would sell him to another Premier League team," Wenger told journalists, "why would you want to sell him to another English club? You always want to be stronger, not strengthen other teams," explained the Arsenal manager.
"I let Van Persie leave in his last year of the contract because he was already 29 and he signed a long-term contract. But with Sanchez, it's not the same. I think he will extend his contract and stay here," Wenger compared the Chilean's situation with that of Dutchman.
"If he doesn't sign a new contract, will I force him to stay? Yes. First of all, he is happy here, his desire is to stay, and I genuinely believe that," Wenger continued.
