The head coach of London's Arsenal Arsene Wenger does not understand the disappointment of fans regarding the lack of a new striker purchased this season and claims that this decision was correct.
During the summer, there were rumors in the media about A. Wenger's intentions to lure Karim Benzema from Real Madrid to the Gunners. Also, Napoli's star Gonzalo Higuain was in Arsenal's sights, but the strategist ended up without a new team striker.
"I do not understand the disappointment of fans in this regard," A. Wenger told journalists.
"We had Giroud, Walcott, Sanchez, Welbeck - all these footballers are top-class strikers. We would have to spend a lot of money if we wanted to find better players from that quartet.
"Giroud gained great self-confidence and is psychologically strong as a positional player," added the 66-year-old football specialist.
D. Welbeck has not played this season due to injury, but the other three players combined have scored 29 goals this season.
