Recently signed a new contract, Arsene Wenger insists that London's "Arsenal" leaders Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will not leave this summer.
The future of this duo is constantly questioned in the media, as there is only one year left until the end of both footballers' contracts, and lately they seem too good for their teammates.
The Chilean is already intensively linked to Munich's "Bayern", London's "Chelsea" and "Manchester City". There are not many specific rumors about Ozil, but many top attacking midfielders in the world would certainly not refuse.
"This summer, first and foremost, they will stay at the club and, hopefully, we can extend their contracts," Wenger told BeIN SPORTS.
"No (they will not leave). We cannot weaken the club or the team. We need to strengthen the team. Unless we find a player of the same caliber and if they absolutely want to leave."
"I believe we are not in that situation at the moment. We are focused on keeping the team together and looking at how we can strengthen it."
"When you sign a contract somewhere, you are committed to giving your all until the last day of the contract. I would say, why shouldn't they give their all?"
"Every player's interest is always to play football, especially when their contract is ending. If you are a winner, you want to win the game you are playing."
London's "Arsenal" club finished fifth in the English championship this season and will play in the UEFA Europa League next season. This could be a hurdle not only in keeping Sanchez and Ozil but also in attracting high-level newcomers.
