London's "Arsenal" manager Arsene Wenger assures that despite rumors in the press that Theo Walcott will leave the club, negotiations for a new contract are already underway.
On Thursday, the Arsenal forward himself did not deny any talks about a new contract, but the team's manager says he definitely wants the Englishman to stay at the club.
Walcott returned this season after a knee injury suffered in winter 2014, but he failed to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup.
"We have started negotiating with Theo Walcott about extending his contract. Personally, I would like to keep him," Wenger told beIN Sports.
The uncertain future of the forward has sparked interest from Liverpool, who are already looking for a replacement for Raheem Sterling, who could move to Real Madrid. Interestingly, Walcott supported Liverpool as a child.
