"Arsenal" coach Arsene Wenger had some controversial words after the London derby ended in a draw against "Chelsea". The Frenchman said that if Davide Zappacosta had scored three points for the "aristocrats", he would have committed suicide.
The opponent defender sent a cross into the net in the final moments of the match right after Hector Bellerin had equalized for the "Gunners". Earlier, "Arsenal" had taken the lead thanks to Jack Wilshere's goal, but a questionable 11-meter penalty, converted by Eden Hazard, allowed "Chelsea" to take the initiative. The visitors secured the lead with Marcos Alonso's goal.
"I would have committed suicide," Wenger responded when asked what he would have done in the case of Zappacosta's goal.
"It was a great football match, we showed great psychological resources. I knew the last 20 minutes would be tough," he added.
Currently, the "Gunners" are in seventh place in the English championship, but the coach believes that they deserve more success with their performance.
"It's very disappointing. We also have to look at ourselves," Wenger concluded.
"Our performances have been top-notch, but we didn't get the results we could have. No one gave us success."
