Arsene Wenger, still enjoying his well-deserved vacation, revealed what he regrets most in his career.
During his 22 years at London's Arsenal club, A. Wenger achieved sweet victories, but also experienced bitter failures. However, Wenger's biggest regret is that Lionel Messi did not join the ranks of the "Gunners."
The coach revealed that in 2003, L. Messi had the opportunity to join the London team. Instead of the Argentine, Cesc Fabregas eventually arrived at Arsenal.
"You have to continue living even with huge disappointments," Wenger told "BeIN Sports."
"There is only one unrealized deal in your life and that is a big part of it. Before acquiring Fabregas, we were negotiating with Messi, as they had already established a partnership on the pitch.
You can understand the fantastic youth teams we had when you look at Barcelona. In the same team played not only Messi and Cesc, but also Pique.
Pique and Fabregas came to England, while Messi stayed in Spain. We were very interested in him, but at that time he was simply untouchable," Wenger recounted.
