London's "Arsenal" strategist Arsene Wenger denies rumors of a possible departure of Jack Wilshere and hinted at extending the contract with the English player.
The 23-year-old footballer recently returned to the "Gunners" squad after another injury, which allowed him to play only 13 matches in the Premier League this season.
Without him on the field, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey performed well in the midfield, while Francis Coquelin shone in the defensive midfielder position, so last week Wilshere admitted uncertainty about his future.
"I put Jack Wilshere in the starting lineup at the age of 17," said Wenger. "It's impossible to show more desire to have a player in your ranks."
"We always extended his contract and were patient with his injuries. I think he himself should feel needed."
"We supported him in every tough moment. Does that mean we want him to stay for a longer time? Yes, we would like his talent to benefit us."
